I'm a visual artist. My artistic practice involves programming, animation, video mapping and video installations. You can often find me at parties and festivals, doing one of the above. Sometimes, I do exhibitions too.
I finished my bachelor of fine arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. During this studies I've also tought myself how to code. This turned out to be so much fun that I did a second bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering at TU Delft. I am currently enrolled in a research master at TU Delft.
I spent my days either studying in Delft or working in my studio in Ruigoord. Ruigoord is a small artist community on the outskirts of Amsterdam (which you should visit by the way: www.ruigoord.nl)
I like to think conceptual, but I have a strong visual focus. I take concepts as a starting point and I can digress from them quite a bit.
I have a deep fascination for computers. How they work. The images they make. The insights they offer. The way they develop and open up unpredicted areas.
At the same time, all I do is human. What I feel and what I want is irratic. I have an unconsious mind and irrational behavior. Physics tells me how the apple falls, but it doesn't tell me why. Statistics can predict behavoir, but it doesn't explain. Wanting an answer makes me so bloody human.
I hope I can use both my fascination and the human experience to make works that fascinate, but also touch.
